U15 Girls WEST take Discovery Cup

The PA Classics U-15 Girls WEST ’94 team earned their first tournament title over the Columbus Day weekend at the Discovery Cup in Germantown, MD.  Battling a packed schedule, competing in 5 games in 48 hours, the girls were able to take home the 1st place trophy with a 1-0 defeat of Penn Legacy.

A win and a 0-0 draw on Saturday forced Classics into a must win situation for the 3rd preliminary game on Sunday morning if the team wanted to advance.  With a quality team effort, Classics turned away FC Virginia 2-0 to advance to the semi-finals.  A hectic match ensued with Classics ending up deadlocked with Ashburn, 3-3.  In the end Classics went through on Pk’s with a 4-3 tally.  In the finals Classics met local rivals Penn Legacy.  In what was a match featuring few chances, Classics was able to get the crucial goal with only 2 minutes left in the game.

In only their 3rd tournament since being formed as a team, PA Classics WEST ’94 has already become a strong group with great potential.  The team were Finalists at Spirit United in August, Finalist at the Keystone Cup in September, and now are the Discovery Cup Champions in October.  The team is also currently undefeated in PAGS with a 3-0-1 record.
